Phone cards can help families stay in touch over the holidays so they don't have to travel
December 27, 2011
The holidays are here, which means that many people will be traveling to visit relatives or take family vacations. A recent survey by the U.S. Travel Association revealed that those who are planning to travel for the holidays are less than thrilled about it. In fact, two out of three people who are planning to travel said that they would prefer to not fly to their destinations.
Much of the frustration that holiday travelers experience comes with trying to schlep heavy holiday gifts along with them. This can not only make it difficult to maneuver in an airport, but the baggage fees could end up costing more than the gifts themselves. Many people may choose to stay home instead of dealing with airport security and luggage fees, opting instead to ship gifts to loved ones.
People who are choosing to avoid the hassle of traveling for the holidays can still stay in touch with their loved ones. Long distance calling cards are the perfect way to make inexpensive calls to friends and relatives around the world. They can even be on the phone as their gifts are unwrapped, which is the next best thing to being there in person.
